The Spokane Convention Center and you

The Convention Center benefits our wonderful community in a variety of ways.

Economic Impact

The main mission of the Spokane Convention Center is to generate economic benefits for the region by hosting out-of-town visitors that attend conventions, tradeshows and sporting events. Visitors spend money for  lodging, transportation, at restaurants, on entertainment and for retail shopping thus generating sales and lodging taxes. In the last five years the convention Center has contributed $266 million in direct spending to the regional economy making it one of Spokane most important economic engines.

The completion of the 2015 expansion project will increase the number of visitors and have a positive economic impact over the next few years.

Community Gathering Place

The Convention Center is more than a venue for large conventions and events.  As the region’s premier gathering place, it is where local meetings, banquets, educational, cultural, religious, commercial and social functions are held for all the members of our community. Most residents have attended some type of function at the Convention Center such as a wedding, business meeting, non-profit fundraiser, consumer show, graduation or educational seminar.

Community Involvement

Our culture recognizes the importance of community involvement. Spokane Public Facilities District employees and contractors are involved in the community as volunteers, in service clubs/organizations and...Here are a few examples how they are making a difference:

  • 85 % of SPFD Employees donate to Untied Way each year
  • Food leftover from large events is donated to organizations that serve the less fortunate.
  • Over 3,000 hours are donated for the annual UGM Thanksgiving Dinner.

In addition, many SPFD employees are members of numerous service clubs and serve on the Boards of local non-profit organizations.
